My hope for the next"non-human" person candidacy is the cephalopod. There is a reason Cthulu has the head of an octopus. They are smart SOBs. I recall reading about an octopus that escaped from its tank to eat fish in nearby tanks. Here's one escaping through a 1" diameter hole:
Either we grant them "non human person" status, or they'll just claim it for themselves!
